I was browsin through the forums after work, as I usually do, and saw that I was placed in a list in the "Top 3 Most Overrated Emcees" thread...which I find pretty humorous considering that I'm an unsigned emcee from Iowa that's done some pretty big things considering my location...my man Lilmatic was placed in this list too.



I wanna know what the general concensus is....how do y'all REALLY feel about my shit...don't sugarcoat it cuz you think you're cool with me or any shit like that...give it up raw and real. I'm a humble cat, and I ain't gonna hate anybody if they say "Plex...you suck" or "Plex...you're lines sound rushed"....or if it's just some generalized shit you wanna say that would be considered "harsh criticism" by some...trust...you ain't gonna hurt my feelings in the least...



I've given my fair share of critique on here...good and bad...so I don't think I'm askin for much

All of the tracks on my page right now are mixtape joints for the mixtape I'm droppin in April (it got pushed back due to some personal shit)



I got some album cuts lined up to drop soon...I'm just savin em for a minute...the album don't drop until this Fall, so there's plenty of time...I spent more time on my album material than I did the mixtape tracks...I'll keep y'all posted when I upload some of em

Naw..I don't take it like that...but why the comparisons to Eminem? I sound nothing like him...and just cuz I'm white doesn't make me Eminem either...I don't have the same style, I don't speak on the same subject matter...



I guess bein white and an emcee, the comparisons will always be there...but I honestly do not sound like Eminem in anyway...not voice wise, the way I spit is different, my style is different...the only thing we have in common is skin tone and we both spit



There are plenty of clones out there as it is...I spit the same way I did when i came out back in 93...I've advanced lyrically, but I still got the same sound....I respect Eminem as an artist, and that's as far as it goes. I wouldn't even say I go outta me way to NOT sound like him...I just don't.



To each his own i guess...but i don't hear it...and most other people don't either...I've heard the Non Phixion comparisons before...I don't really hear that either...but style-wise, I'd say I'm more similar to that than I am Eminem

I think you're good. Rhymes, wordplay and all that jazz is good. Only thing I would say is sometimes you sound off. Either too fast or too slow with the beat. It only happens on occasion so it doesn't ruin the song, but it's noticeable.

Yeah...that's the most common criticism I get...I focus so hard on tryin to write complex multi's, stacked and layered shit that rhymes mid-bar, layers upon layers of shit...so sometimes, i try to cram too many words into my lines, I rush to spit em out, and I get off beat at times...i'll admit that.

I don't necessarily "feel" my shit...that's for other people to decide...which is the reason why I made this thread....it wasn't for fishing purposes...I got a mixtape comin out soon, and I want people's honest opinions...and for the most part, cats are bein real in their responses, which is what I wanted to see...opinions and critique without it comin off as spammin my shit.



I DO care what other people think...if you're gonna be serious in this industry, it's obvious that other people besides yourself have to feel what you're doin, or you will fail. My opinion really doesn't mean anything if I drop an album or mixtape that "I" think's hot if other people aren't feelin it...it goes beyond my opinion...



It's more like market research...tryin to gauge the interest, and see what people think...that's all. I take this seriously...it's not a hobby. If I was makin music solely for myself, I wouldn't have even bothered with this...cuz I'd just be another "hobby" emcee.
