sad to say ... but I liked the one on fruity loops... you type in your phrase and BAM!!!

The vocoder on the korg micro synth is great on the hardware side

the "vocoder" in FL isn't a vocoder at all. it's a speech synthesizer. two totally different things.

the one in the mK is indeed good. far more intelligable than i expected.

Well, having just bought one, I can testify that the Alesis Micron vocoder patch is SHITE! SHIIIIITE! Even after hours of tweaking. It's really an afterthought. But everything else is sweet. We needed something smaller for touring, and I didn't want to get the MiniKorg cause I already got the big daddy... I think what I'm a gonna do is get a rackmount in addition and use that strictly for my live vocoderin' purposes.

We also use ableton for our live performances, but we've been reluctant to run any vocal effects thru it cause there's fucking enough going on there already.

The vocoder that comes with reason seems to work just fine. I used it in the track I have on my profile.

that's surprising. i always heard good things about the vocoder in the Ion. perhaps they left some parts of it out? wouldn't make sense though.

Have used the AKAI Vocoder plug-in. Works well but doesnt synch with MIDI. The Reason Vocoder is brilliant just annoying cant be used Live. Also tried Orange Vocoder plugin...also works well.

how does a vocoder sync to midi?

Yep. I usually play all my vocoder lines live, but our track Meth Whore won't allow for it, cause I'm doin' other stuff and thems complicated chords to play, lol....so MIDI does the trick. Yeah...I dunno. I love the Alesis Micron, but I have a feeling the Ion vocoder is waaay better. Maybe I just gotta tweak some more...the thought of two MS2000s in the home is appealing, but I'd probably sell my keyboard version if I got the rackmount...can't decide WHAT the fuck to do.

Honestly, finding a good outboard vocal effects processing unit has become the BANE of my existence.

Same way as any other midi synth. :)

that's called tracking =o] there's nothing in a vocoder's architecture to sync. no lfos, no delays...

Well, technically yes. Being the idiot savant that I am, I have a hard time 'splainin' in technical terms, but I program the midi to tell my MS2000 to switch between vocoder patch and whatever lead I'm usin' and back again, and then to hit the correct notes in the sections I'm usin the vocoder. All I'm interested in is making sure it's hitting notes I wanna hear. Any effects, LFO, delay etc. I throw on are realtime.
