    Classic Rock ShowWrote:

Finally something that should have happened a week ago...a simple message letting people know what's going on.

Kudo's to Tom for doing what no one else could do.

    Are you kidding me?

This is EXACTLY what I said that would happen and I said that I got it from myspace staff members. So whats the difference? I gave out a message from myspace and you fought and argued and now you are proved wrong.

Wheres your consipracy theories now, classic rock show?

    <bgsound src="URL" />

where URL is a DIRECT LINK (no question marks and ends in valid MP3 or WAV)

Using bgsound, the ENTIRE song has to download before it will start playing, unlike embeds which stream the music. That means you arent going to hear anything for maybe a minute or two while it downloads.

the bgsound code was designed best for MIDI files, small song files usually around only >50kb in size

midi files make good bgsound (files ending in .mid) but it would too low-fi for most myspacers who are used to broadband and high quality music.

    >Lots of people have asked me about the EMBED tag and videos ...

    >we had to disable this temporarily and it'll be back some time next week.

The tag will be back but will it still support all the file types it use to? The wording sounds like embed will only work for video when it does come back. I miss my flash music player http://musicplayer.sourceforge.net/

the article says that macromedia has fixed this flaw..so does that give hope that flash will indeed be back?

    Be patient.

    --How MySpace could Fix this--

    1) fix xss exploitable pages (use same filters)

    (this would stop all javascript)

    2) have all pages use javascript to break out of any frames

(this would stop javascript and form automation)

    3) not use "named" [[[[iframe]]]]s so the target cant be used (OnlineNowBuffer)

(this would not allow the use of exploited sites from flash)
