I just saw a guy a couple weeks ago getting some heat becasuse his spends all of his free time doing this. He has his own Youtube channel and he post. cops misbehaving. He was "interveing" alittle and provocking(?)them though, so they threw the "obstucting justice" thing at him.

Rodney King's video was from an observer, no one brought up the legalities of it being used in a court of law.

I saw "stay out of the way, why not?". But i dont' know the law so everything i've said is meaningless

just dont get in the way...In journalism your taught that anything in plain view of the public is fair game..for example if your undressing in front of the window and you can be seen in plain view from the street, it is legal to film or photograph you, it may not be right but its legal. So just dont get in the way or say anything because then it may be distracting and you could be arrested for obstructing. Also there can be a fine line if the cop says to stop and you dont, you can probably beat it in court but you may spend a couple days locked up.

Exactly. If a police officer wants to arrest you, they are going to arrest you. The question is whether the charge will stick.

It's not ilegal BUT, any cop that is engaged in a questionable activity that sees you rolling tape WILL be comming after you. Be carful if you intend on doing this. It is your right to film if it is veiwabl from public place. You may want to drop by copwatch.com and do a little research there.

Or what happens to the taped evidence.

Reality is there for every one to videotape and publish as they see fit. There is no laws against videotaping any one reguardless of their occupation.

Obstruction of Justice is oblique in generality.Obstruction of Justice in this case would have to evolve around an exploitation to which interferes with the alwful duty of the officer to carry out specific occupational fiduciary duties to the community while onshift. Ther ecording of an interpreted racial beating caould actually of been a person whom was on teh run from the polcie and were trying to subdue. In generality the Circuit Court will indicate that a " Leeding Heart" makes an easy target.
