Quito, Ecuador at night in the old town is by far thee most scariest place to be! i have lived in pretty bad parts and visited alot of other places but there is pretty crazy! bums hanging around with large wooden sticks. small alleyways where people pop out and hit you.

Baltimore, D.C., east and southcentral LA, Bronx New York, parts of Harlem NY, South and West sides of Chicago, redneck country, parts of Milwaukee, all the big and mid<myspace>size</myspace> cities have bad parts, just stay away from them as much as possible.

There are dodgy areas in every large city! I have felt safer walking through Pantelamon ( supposed to be the bronx of Romania ) in Bucharest than i do walking through central Manchester lol..



Pest area of Budapest is a bit rough - lots of Gypseys... but nothing u dont see in other towns.

Yeah just about any large city if you go into the wrong section of town you could find yourself facing trouble!

As far as crime numbers regarding tourist you should check your local embassy for that information I'm sure they'll have some good info and I can tell you right now Baghdad is still the most dangerous city in the world last time I checked.

Nairobi is the worst I've visited. Only spent a month there, but was robbed twice, shot at once and almost hit by a bomb. There's quite a lot of big cities in africa that aren't so friendly if you stumble into the wrong district, but then I guess that's the same all over the world.
