I'm curious how the black community views darker skinned black people. I saw this guy yesterday and he was black as night. Then I saw a very light skinned guy right after that. Do lighter skinned black people get racially profiled less? Do people find lighter skinned black people more attractive. I know from a white boys perspective, I do find lighter skin to be a more attractive trait in black women. Halle berry is the perfect example. But I also find darker skinned women attractive too, although I've never dated a black woman before. Do you guys think it makes a difference as far as how you are treated in america? I try and treat all people with equal respect, but I do think lighter skinned people are profiled less by cops, and people in general. Is this generally true? SOME PEOPLE LOVE TO START SHIT THERE IS NO LIGHT SKIN VS DARK SKIN SHIT A PORTION OF THEM LIGHT SKIN BLACKS ARE BI RACIAL(WHITE AND BLACK PARENTS) BUT JUST CALL THEMSELVES BLACK FOR SOME DAMN REASON. HALLE BERRY IS MIXED NOT BLACK= WHITE MOM/ BLACK FATHER, BAD EXAMPLE! THERES TO MANY OF US BLACKS TO BE OVER THROWED BY BI RACIAL PEOPLE DISGUISED AS BLACK, I GUESS IT DEPENDS WHERE YOU GO TO BE PROFILED. I KNOW YOU HAVE YOUR OPIION AND I HAVE MINE BUT I HAVE PERSONALLY SEEN DARK CARAMEL SKIN CHICKS WHO MURDERS HALLE BERRY WHOLE REPITOIR(SP?) WHEN THINGS LIKE THIS COME UP I SOMETIMES WISH BI RICIALS(BLACK/WHITE) HAD THEIR OWN IDENTITY THEN THERE WOULD NOT BE THIS MESS

Is this generally true? it was back in the day!!!!! long time ago a lot of dark skinned people had hard time to find work. white people hired light skinned black people because they were very attractive. it was really bad back in the day. my parent told me what happened. cops used to think that dark skinned color mean "anger" but it was really stereotype.

if you ask 100 different black people that question, then you will most likely get 100 different answers. just like if i ask one of my white comrades if they prefer blondes to brunettes. do blondes get profiled less...etc. there are infinit answers

I brought one of my best friend at my work. she applied for job. my boss looked at her, he didn't want to hire her. I figured why??? because she is too dark.

Isnt your ethnicity usually determined by the ethnicity of your father??? Thats what I heard... So if you are chinese and your mom is white, then you put your "ethnicity" as chinese...
If your father is latino and your mom is white then technically (on applications anyway) you are latino..
right???

No. It's more like if one parent is white, and the other is black, you say you are black.

me too. I would never shut someone out because of skin tone or race for that matter. As long as they are good people they are ok in my book. I kind of have a thing for asian girls. don't know why really. But I've never dated one, just always thought they were smokin hot..lol maybe u should vacation in Asia for a while to get it out of ur system or embrace it. i'd love to visit Japan someday.

********************************************************************
MEDIA STATEMENT:
The purpose of this statement is to explain my heritage for the benefit of members of the media who may be seeing me play for the first time. It is the final and only comment I will make regarding the issue.
My parents have taught me to always be proud of my ethnic background. Please rest assured that is, and always will be, the case - past, present, and future.
The media has portrayed me as African-America; sometimes, Asian. In fact, I am both.
Yes, I am the product of two great cultures, one African-American and the other Asian.
On my father's side, I am African-American. On my mother's side, I am Thai. Truthfully, I feel very fortunate, and EQUALLY PROUD, to be both African-American and Asian!
The critical and fundamental point is that ethnic background and/or composition should NOT make a difference. It does NOT make a difference to me. The bottom line is that I am an American...and proud of it!
That is who I am and what I am. Now, with your cooperation, I hope I can just be a golfer and a human being.
Signed,
TIGER WOODS

it's just my perspective but i think blacks definately make a difference between light and dark skin, but i've been around enough whites to know that darker skin (usually) intimidates them moreso than lighter skin, i could be wromg , but thats my experiences.....
