Nature versus nurture? Or nature eating nurture? it does beg the question though...exactly how "mutant" are we as a race/society/species that this particular organism is amongst our numbers? And where the HELL have child protective services been for all of HER life? Then again, if you tally up her turtle expenses, vs. the expenses of a 5 yr beer drinker and cigarette smoker...both of which I am...she actually might have gotten off cheap.....and no serious health effects...social, definitely, but she's not going to get lung cancer or hepatitis from her turtle addiction.
