    <h1><span <myspace>style</myspace>="font-<myspace>size< ;/myspace>: 1.5em; ">FlashPoint Records Newsletter – CD/Schedule News!!!!!!</span></h1>

    No rest for the wicked down at FlashPoint HQ this month, with the FlashPoint Records remix competition and the forthcoming schedule to be decided, FlashPoint Records 26 to get ready to be sent off for press and the forthcoming CD – Industrial Strength Volume 2 – to be mixed by label bosses Marc Johnson & Jupe. Fortunately for me, all I had to do was waffle a bit… I must be a very good boy indeed.

    Firstly, and as you should already know, the winner of the FlashPoint Records remix competition was none other than ‘The Don’ Chris Comben. Although there were some other excellent entries his remix of DMF & Ali Wilson’s ‘Unidentified Craft’ was a clear winner in the end. An excellent production in true FlashPoint <myspace>style</myspace>, with a massive bassline and excellent use of the sample pack, while retaining a definite Comben feel. Chris has been a very busy boy recently, and is definitely one to watch over the coming months!

    <span <myspace>style</myspace>="color: blue; ">James Searles – Paranoid (Ben Stevens & Frank Farrell remix)</span>

    This cut from the uber-talented James Searles is one of several FlashPoints to be remixed in time for the new album, with spectacular results. Engineered by boy wonder Frank Farrell, it’s a slamming piece of UK hard house that combines Ben’s dancefloor nous with Frank’s natural production abilities, to produce a heavy track by anyone’s standards. Incorporating a heart-stopping bassline and the patent-pending ‘Silly Kick’, this is one of Frank’s best productions to date. Intricate stabs, vocal snippets and complicated synthwork lead up to the break where the memorable, family-<myspace>size</myspace> riff comes in. The key changes after the drop take the track in an unexpected direction and work really well, carrying the riff home. Definitely one for later on in the night!

    <span <myspace>style</myspace>="color: blue; ">Phil Cogan – Heavy Bass</span>

    Probably the most recognisable harder track in the scene at the moment graces this vinyl’s b-side. Engineered by none other than Paul Maddox and having featured in the sets of most of the A-list, you’ll know this one. The ‘Who wants some heavy bass?’ vocal might seem a touch cheesy to begin with but the track really works, with it’s double off-beat bassline and twisted synth lines building up to the breakdown. The samples and synths tease you for a little while making you wonder what’s going to happen, before the huge riff punches you on the nose. A hefty build up to the drop keeps you guessing, finally dropping without losing any steam, pummelling you right to the end with immaculately engineered filth.

    There has been much cross-Atlantic wrangling in recent weeks as Marc and Jupe battled it out over the tracklistings for their mixes, but they finally came to a grudging agreement, and got down to mixing the buggers. The storming results are packed full of all the confirmed upfront FlashPoint material, and were mixed LIVE by Marc and Jupe themselves. No cheating here thank you please! This album is the first out-and-out UK Hard House album for quite some time and is likely to be only one of two released this year. A pre-release review will be unleashed shortly but here are the tracklists to whet your whistle!
