Mark 14:32-38



32They went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus said to his disciples, "Sit here while I pray." 33He took Peter, James and John along with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled. 34"My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to thepoint of death, " he said to them. "Stay here and keep watch." 35Going a little farther, he fell to the ground and prayed that if possible the hour might passfrom him. 36"Abba, Father, " he said, "everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will."37Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping."Simon, " he said to Peter, "are you asleep? Could you not keep watch for one hour? 38Watch and pray so that youwill not fall into temptation.The spirit is willing, but the body is weak."



In this scripture, Jesus takes his disciples with him to a place called Gethsemane, and he tells them to pray and keep watch while he goes to pray at a separate place.When Jesus returns from praying, he finds that his disciples have fallen asleep.At this point, he wakes Peter up and says to him "Could you not keep watch and pray for one hour?"Jesus knew the trials and tribulations that lay ahead of him, he knew the temptations that they were going to face, and he knew that Satan was about to attack them, and for this reason, Jesus told hisdisciples to keep watch and pray, so that they would be prepared and strongenough for what they were about to go through.When Jesus finds his disciples sleeping, he wakes them up and tells them that with Satan about to attack them, and with the tough situations that they are about to face, that now is not the time toget caught sleeping.To be asleep, means to be dormant, and inactive. What this scripture is saying, is that we as Christians should always be awake spiritually to be watchful and pray so that we can be prepared when the enemy (the devil ) attacks us.







As a child of GOD, now is not the time to get caught sleeping while Satan is preparing and planning to attack you. Now is not the time to get caught sleeping while Satan is attacking you to prevent you from fulfilling GOD's plan and his purpose for your life. Now is not the time to get caught sleeping while Satan is attacking your family, your loved ones, your marriage, or your children. Now is not the time to get caught sleeping while Satan is attacking your career, your health, your finances, or your future. Now is not the time to get caught sleeping while Satan is throwing temptations at you to get you to fall into sin. Peter fell asleep when Jesus told him to pray, so when the soldiers came to arrest Jesus, he committed a sin by cutting off one of the soldier's ears.We also need to be watchful and pray so that we can handle and respond to life's situations the correct way and not commit sin in the heat of the moment.







In 2007, with all that the devil is doing here on Earth, we as Christians need to be watchful and pray more than ever before, now is not the time for the body of Christ to get caught sleeping. Now is not the time for us to become passive in our labor to reach out to people and allow GOD to use us to draw them into the kindgom of GOD. Now is not the time for us to become passive in our intercessory prayer life.With the way that Satan is influencing our society, our culture, and the media, now is not the time for us as Christians to get caught sleeping and be unaware of the devil's schemes. I say all that to say this....be spiritually alert and awake so that you can be watchful and pray, this way you'll be prepared for when the enemy ( Satan ) attacks you.Amen!!!
