Hi everyone, I hate to start a new topic for fear of being flamed or seeming to want attention. That is not the case. I am having a philosphical dilemma and I am looking for honest input. A friend sent me a video, one of the usual "propoganda" Iraq war videos...this was my reply to him in response:
"It was thought provoking.
My thoughts during that...it was hard to see the children, dead/mutilated. Of course that should be hard to see. If one has a heart. I also thought...what else can we do? But to kill each other, to destroy. I'm suprised man has managed to hold onto this earth as long as we have. I think it's natural that we consume, multiply and destroy. And there is inherent grief and suffering in that. We all have suffering, even the spoiled white bitches living in orange county california. I think a lot of good comes from suffering...art, music, religion (eh....another story) I think we should continue destroying ourselves...I don't want to save man. Man is not worth saving. Time for something new. Better luck next earth.
My thoughts...wrong or right."
Now I am wondering...is this a healthy way of thinking? Am I a horrible person?

it's the story of easter island, the inhabitants hadn't enough resources to ALL live there, so they turned to war to keep their numbers in check, and determine which "side" had control of the island.
SOMEONE'S gotta keep humanity in check, guess it has to be humanity >.>

yes they all died. largely due to a lack of resources, but killing each other couldnt have helped their case much either.

Hmm okay...so we will die. Does that mean we should make the most good out of being here, by being good, or being selfish?
I feel like...I'm on the edge of figuring something out...but what is it?

Now I am wondering...is this a healthy way of thinking? Am I a horrible person? its not wrong to have that view. i don't necessarily agree with it though. you have to remember you just a very gruesome biased video. you even referred to it as propoganda. that will put a damper on anyones optimism. try finding something to watch that focuses on the good of society to balance it out. people are inherently capable of both good and evil. its just that when one shocks us we forget about the other. or it seems trivial at the time. im not saying to support the evil that you see but just to realize there is also good. no its not unhealthy as long as you don't plan on going and doing something destructive. and no you are not a horrible person as long as you don't plan on going out and doing something destructive

I feel like...I'm on the edge of figuring something out...but what is it? lol, read mine and loves disscusion on the nature vs unatural thread. we should be natuarally selfish and naturaly compasionate. actually there isn't a reason to do anything but be. there is no wrong answer. unless of course your trying to save the world. i love your taste in music btw.
