Trying to get some collection of experiences from individuals on a vegan diet.

I'm the only vegan probably in 200mi radius.

Any words would be greatly appreciated.

I am a vegetarian. Although the only thing I really do have is cheese. Thats only once in a while when I can't buy Veg cheese. I live in West Virginia. There isn't even a whole foods here. I have one small store that has some stuff. I also really don't know anyone else that is a veg. Although since you live in PA there are probably mor people around you then you think that are veg or vegan.

I have been a vegetarian since I was fourteen. I have in the last few years given up Dairy & eggs. I love the life stile. I am healthy. Although I am a few pounds over weight for my height.

I also don't buy stuff tested on animals but from time to time there are products in my house that have been. But only because I work in a store that sells them. So when a bottle gets damaged I bring it home so it doesn't get wasted.

I am very health & environmently conscience. But I am mostly a veg for Ethical & moral reasons. The health aspect is just the cherry on top.. :)

Are you a vegan for moral, ethical, or health reasons? Just wondered.

So if you want to talk sometime let me know.

Look at the nutritional facts on any soy product it has more protein than any meat product. Animal protein is also linked to cancer. The average vegan lives ten years longer than a person that eats meat.

I have been a vegetarian for 5 years, vegan for 2. It can be difficult but order some cook books from amazon and you will be ok. Most restaurants will make you a vegan dish. Just tell them what you want and most will make it.

On my friends list I have some good resources for vegans.

Eat some fish? Really bad advise. Mercury and pesticides abound in fish. Besides, last time i checked fish was not listed as a vegetable. We get plenty of protein on a vegan diet. Even without soy products (which should be eaten sparingly) we get more than enough. Ever see an elephant. Does he look like he doesn't get enough protein? Elephants are herbivores, Meat eaters actually get way too much protein and it leads to many of the problems we have today. Protein deficiency is NEVER a problem with a well balanced vegan diet.

No, but a B12 deficiency is.

I'm vegan/vegetarian for both health and moral reasons.

Health was the most significant motive because I was becoming disgusted by eating dead carcasses.

Over time and with experience I began to sympathize with animal suffering.

I began to see the relativity of existence. Than it became a moral reason.

If you're going to use longevity as an indication of which diet is superior you should look at the Japanese and Okinawan diets as they have the worlds longest life expectency.

The traditional Japanese and Okinawan diets include meat and fish albeit in relatively small amounts compared to western diets. They certainly aren't vegan or even vegetarian.

Gahhhhhh, anything is fucking linked to cancer.

Fact is Animal protein contains amino acids you can't get from your soy. The average vegan does not live 10 years longer than a meat eater, nor is animal protein associated with cancer. You pulled that out of your fucking ass you dickmunch.
