LOL this just proves, once again, that more people than not....are attributing the SEC's success to speed when it has a lot to do with discipline and coaching. The SEC as a league has put together some solid programs with good coaching. One thing the SEC has ALWAYS had was speed....and yet....they haven't ALWAYS been this good. Seems to me like Delaney has fallen victim to the idiot epidemic. This disappoints me to no end, and before all you southern boys start jackin' off to this article...remember...Michigan and Ohio State have crappy game coaches...and you won't be dominant forever. See you next season.

What an embarrassment to the conference and the NCAA.

Enjoy the fodder my fine SEC friends. . . we deserve all the shit you guys want to pile upon us.

Why the hell did he have to bring race into it?

I read the letter by the BIG 10 Commish, he said D-Line, not blacks.

Why do people have to imply shit like that?

People do recruit in the south for speed at the skill <myspace><myspace>position</myspace></myspac e>s when it's been tapped out elsewhere. But the point is....and I'll say it again...you don't have to have speed all over the field to be a powerhouse. I'm going to throw UW vs Arkansas in your faces just because I can. It took 5 Defensive Lineman to s<myspace><myspace>top</myspace></myspace&g t; the Wisconsin running game. Why? Because Arkansas recruits speed over power. It worked. But Arkansas got NO pressure on an otherwise average Wisconsin passing game because those five D lineman were bouncing off the Badger O line like racket balls. As a result and they got beat down....and at the end of the game when they were tired and giving up...PJ Hill STILL found a couple of seams and little D backs to run through.

SEC speed has ALWAYS been SEC speed. Why it's an issue now I do not know. The Big 10 conference should never make any comments...official or otherwise about how their schools recruit. It was a stupid comment...and race became an issue the same way it became an issue when Paul Hornung commented about Notre Dame needing to lower it's educational standards. Intentional or not...it was a slap in the face...and it was stupid. I'm embarrassed as a Big 10 fan...and I'd like to see someone with a little more common sense take over the <myspace><myspace>position</myspace></myspac e>.

But all of you half assed fans that like to get all fired up about something and think that blazing speed is necessary at all <myspace><myspace>position</myspace></myspac e>s in Division 1. Where the hell was all this speed when the SEC was down? I'll tell you. They had good recruiting coaches and shitty <myspace><myspace>position</myspace></myspac e> and game coaches. Same as Michigan and Ohio State. You think the maze and blue and the scarlette and silver are slow? Please.... They're plenty fast. They were unprepared and that's coaching and discipline...not talent. Get over yourselves. If you really want the southern schools to prove something....instead of all the non conference games taking place early on and down in the southern heat...why don't you all come on up in November. Let's get a REAL and fair non conference schedule going.

I agree 98% with what he said. But did he have to keep lumping Notre Dame (the other 2% in this equation) into the conversation? I mean, the comments that were made about academic standards being lowered at Notre Dame to recruit Black athletes wasn't made by any official at Notre Dame, but by a damn radio broadcaster. I hardly count that as being official and showing of bias on ND's part.

I'll be writing to Wetzel about this one, that's for certain.

Did I NOT Say And/or West????

And I'm a Colorado fan....where speed ain't always a premium....But then again...you probabaly one of those that thinks just because I'm from the South that I'm one of those "jackasses" SEC speed-fanatics....

Haven't you learned what happens when ya assume something????

    As for Arkansas....

THEY CAN'T PASS.....S<myspace><myspace>top</myspace></ myspace> da run.....they done....What's so special about what Wisconsin did????

But I guess you assumed that Arkansas was a "powerhouse" also...

I assumed that taking SEC #2 means something. I apologize profusely. Taking SEC #2 means nothing.

Please tell me when the SEC was down in the past. The fact is that the UW-Arkansas game is not a good comparison, how about Florida-Ohio State? You can not tell me that bigger lineman are better than the ones that are faster and a little bit smaller. Speed is what it is about. Why doesn't the Big Ten schedule SEC teams, insted of avoiding them like Penn State. And Vandy went to Michigan last year.

Arkansas against Wisconsin is a bad example because Arkansas lost? Ohio State is plenty fast...as I said already. And as I already said. They were not prepared or ready. "speed is what it's all about." Ya that's why you see a lot of 250 pound D lineman in the NFL <myspace><myspace>right</myspace></myspace&g t;? Give me a break.... When was the SEC down? Compared to what it is now? I'll let you figure that out. Let me know if you can't and I'll help you out. Look. Wisconsin is a bad example because they HAVE defensive speed and not all that much of it came from the south...but they also have size and strength. They HAVE athletic Offensive Lineman that can handle fast D-Lineman. I am so sick of this debate I would love to puke. Let me say this again. There are OTHER reasons why Michigan and Ohio State were badly embarrased. And Vandy coming up to Michigan is hardly a show down so let it go.
