wow im sorry you feel that way....do you think that it might be your major or the classes you are taking? i feel that way whenever i get bogged down with work and such, and whenever i have to deal with GenEds as well....and i think all college students go through that phase....i chose to study psychology because i had already taken a lot of those classes and im choosing to go into social work becaue its something that i know i can do and its a respectable job....its not something that im really interested in or something that i have always wanted to do...its just a 'do-able' career...hence my feelings of frustration as a college student...but it balances out with how much i love my school and the classes i take because i want to (and not because they are required)

maybe you do just need a new course of action....maybe take some classes that parallel more to what you like and want to do in life....maybe you just need to find something that you enjoy at school

I also hate uni with a passion. Luckily I like the general subject but half the classes are just shit. I had a year off & lived in china for 6 months to do something diferent. I'm going back this year tho cause I just want my degree. Hopefully the break will make me enjoy it a bit more but we'll see.

why not make a pro/con list about the classes you want to take/currently taking. You're giving up too easy in my opinion, see if the classes or the subject is really worth it after making the list, either that or you change your mind too quickly, i don't know cause i didn't really read alot of other people's responses ^_^'. Anyway, yeah make the list, and decide if you care about the cons THAT much to make you wanna stop taking it.

Like everything else in the world today, classes/lines of work too have their negative sides too it. Making rash decisions just based on one bad thing won't help you in life, you have to look at things as a whole. Referring to what you said about the education, english, journalism etc.

But when you find something you truly like to do, you won't care about the bad parts of it, cause the good parts of it will be truly worth it. Just like Integrated Marketing Communications, you got to do alot of planning and preperations and all that schiesta before you actually show your work, it sucks cause it takes up your time, especially with all the other classes and work--but if you enjoy the fact that the end product will be worth that time and effort, you'll have no problem sticking to the subject.

Don't know if this helped, if your heart is TRULY set on doing something else, then pursue it, but don't change just because something doesn't fit your liking =P.

well then your family is just like mine, show them up, if you think Traveling at this point in your life where you are not sure what you want to be or make with your life, and if it will help you later, then do it. But if you have doubts then don't, for one can't accomplish anything if he unsure of himself. ;)---i noticed you said you "wanna travel"...i wanna travel too, but i think right now you should look at what you NEED to do, which is establish some kind of base first, ----maybe you could be some kind of guidance counselor, knowing you've tried alot of stuff, and can help someone else if they come across and are in the same position ^_^...??

If i seem pessimistic i' apologize , if you do decide to travel, have fun! =D, and if you still remember moi, contact me somehow, i'd love to know how it works out.

BAAAAHHH!!! You sound exactly like my parents "You need to do what you NEED to do, not what you WANT to do...."

And sometimes I'm afriad they're right.....

But I've had this feeling ever since I was 16....the want to get the hell out of here and explore, "find myself" if you will, and just LIVE!

lol, i don't recall implying it that harshly, ..never said "not what you WANT to do"...just saying, you gotta be more pragmatic when it comes to these things, --- always do what you want to do, it's most likely the right thing, ...but sometimes necessity limits the wants =P, just like if a poor individual would WANT a sportscar of some class, but will need to move on and focus on what he as now. ---

so yeah stop referring to me as your parents )..= ---that's just mean =_=, and i take it you never left Nevada, so i guess maybe yeah go out of state and grow, one of my english teachers one said "you gotta get off long Island (where i grew up) if you wanna grow..." ...I'm kinda in the same problem as you are now that i tihnk about, i'm still in the god-damn city and i'm getting tired of it, i've been to much more interesting look places and maybe by the end of this year will transfer, so i don't know, hope everything works out for the best for you (=

I didn't hate college; I actually enjoyed it.

However, it did take me a while to find direction. If you hate college, you're probably taking classes you really don't want to take.

I found my direction after I graduated from college. As an undergrad I learned that I enjoyed working with computers, but I didn't major in computers.

As I worked more with computers, the experience validated that I really enjoy that type of work, so I went to graduate school and got an MBA in Computer Systems.

At that time I was told (by a much older colleague) to get an MBA in Finance and take a few computer classes. I didn't listen; but I know now it was excellent advice.

Soon after getting the MBA in Computer Systems, I worked for an accounting firm and learned that I really like finance.

I've worked for a major tax preparation firm and now I'm with a major life insurance company. In addition, I have a full-time position in technology. Finance and Technology go hand-in-hand for me.

    Lessons learned:

    1. It's OK not to know where you're going.

    2. We are ever evolving and can grow in different directions.

    3. Follow your passion.

    4. Learn from the wisdom and experiences of others.

Vegas sucks!! I moved to reno to get AWAY from vegas....Theres a lot of fun things to do here (more out door stuff) and a LOT nicer people....and less expensive and crowded....but hey, try telling that to a new yorker...lol

lol, i love out-doorsy stuff, I am personally starting to hate the city, i never even wanted to go here but certain circumstances led me to go. So that's why lately i'm thinking of transfering after this year ends to somewhere much more open and better, so far i got Dallas, Cali, or somewhere down south? i don't know, but never thought about Nevada hmm.
