Ive read this article before and all it is is another american car fan trying to defend his beliefs. Hes excited that ford and GM have beat the asian car market in awards, 2 years? and how long have the imports been winning these awards, a lot longer. Bottom line this is not proving anything its just another dude trying to help american car companies, which they do need. I dont hate american cars but I do hate the companies that build them.
Good try but this article dosent mean shit.

Good try but this article dosent mean shit. The article means that GM and Ford fund themselves, while the stupid ass U.S. Government funds Japanese companies, and U.S. companies still outsell the Japanese companies. Thus, U.S. Automakers > Japanese Automakers Yes, the whole FoMoCo is up for collateral for huge loans. They're also back in the number two top selling spot. GM has always been number one, and people worry about GM on false pretense. GM is doing strong, especially around the world, as the article states (read: RECORD SALES).

x2!!!
i don't 'hate' american cars either. but lets face it, during the course of my lifetime, i've watched american cars quality go down, and imorts go up. I've seen the gradual decline and overtake of the market by imports. Does it make me happy? no. quite frankly i find it embarassing. That the richest, smartest, most powerful country in the world can't dominate the auto making industry, is pretty sad. As i've said before, i think Us makers are "stuck in the past" while imports have been ahead of the curve the last 20+ years. Not just in terms of overall quality, but also in providing what consumers want.
i WISH american car makers could provide me with a viable option to my car....but they can't. And i'm not going to sit on the forums and try to pretend otherwise.
imports > domestics in all senses I always confuse your car with Cobalts.

Take a look at this, dosent exactley scream great company does it? http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=GM&t=my

sorry baby killer, you're taking TRUCK sales into account too.
NO one denies Domestic trucks rule the world. Its American CARS that suck. What you are trying to infer doesn't make sense. Sales are sales.

Oh STFU, you read the article, right? It's not about the awards Ford and GM wins, it's the fact that they benefit this country far more than these import transplants. And they do well here and abroad and the press doesn't give a crap. Toyota issues recalls and it doesn't make world news, but god forbid GM and Ford issue a recall and it's frontpage. Car & Driver had problems/recalls with their long-term Honda Odyssey and last gen Camry and still gave them good ratings, but a comparable domestic product would have been crucified. I don't "hate" imports either, but I also hate seeing our government give away our country and then have the press blame it on our manufacturers.
Personally, I don't care about JD Power results just like I don't care about Consumer Reports....they all can be bought, just like you. I have read the article and I dont like it because this guys uses lame facts to try to lure people to his side, its called propeganda and you sir are a victim. It is the american manufacturers fault. If they made cars that the american public would like to drive they would have our support and most likely the governments as well. Fact is that the quailty is not up to par, and many americans would rather drive a toyota or honda. Stop blaming imports for being successfull and start blaming US car companies for not trying.
