Dont worry about Catalán. Everybody speaks Spanish so nobody will talk to you in other language unless you want so.

Jobs?? There are many jobs in which you can work. But, first of all, I think you need a visa if you dont wanna have problems. If I were American, I would work giving English lessons to Spanish students. Giving English lessons is very well paid and many people here are looking for native English.

But if you dont want to teach English. You can work as a waiter or something similar in restaurants, hotels, tourist guides, ... Although it's well paid too, you have to work a lot of hours per week.

There are an awful lot of foreigners living in Spain. Mainly in Valencia, Madrid, Barcelona, ... It's easy to get used to our way of life. I'm sure that you will no problems if you decide to move here. Dont be scared, people are usually very friendly with foreigners.
