I've been looking around for a 3000GT the past few days, trying too find a VR-4 but getting a decent one at a reasonable price is next too impossible. I was thinking of just getting a SL or GT model and upgrading the engine to the VR-4 specs, since I do not really need AWD and the full VR-4 package is insanely heavy. With out the AWD is 320HP too much power for the car, and how much would it cost too upgrade the engine with the stock VR-4 twin turbo's? I test drove a 91 VR-4 today, I absolutely loved it (even though the hood was riddled with rock chips and the interior needed some work) The only reason I did not buy it is because there was somehing wrong with the syncro's, it would grind from first too second. I really do not want too deal with a tranny swap in that thing, I am sure it's alien too most mechanics. does anyone have any tips on what I should look out for? I am a little phobic about buying a lemon lol.

TO answer a few of your questions... it's more expensive to buy an SL or other non turbo model and do the twin turbo conversion. plus, the weight difference isn't that much, and it's not as practical for every day driving (if that's the purpose of the car)... they're not really any faster.

Shoot me a message, even if you don't want one of my cars, and I can give you a few pointers of what to look out for :) These cars need to be nit-picked before you buy them, otherwise you could be just buying yourself a huge headache :)

LOL @ you. fwd 3kgt = lighter than a vr4. awd = more weight. which OBVIOUSLY the fwd model DOESN'T HAVE. you = stupid plz research more and then try again.

fwds weigh around 3000-3100 lbs. vr4, 3800 lbs

Wrong, FWD SL's weigh in at 3263 pounds. Hardly lightweight.

You = stupid. Please research more and try again :).

Anything FWD that weighs anything close to 3000 pounds is not going to be fast.

May as well just get a GT Turbo LeBaron lol... okay, but seriously... the LeBaron would probably be faster.

...and a quick search shows the Turbo LeBaron running a 16.2 while the 3000GT SL runs a 16.4...

    I find that almost funny.

also seems that a s10 runs about a 16.5@79mph so you have no room to talk STILL.

An S-10's a truck and mine runs more like 18, probably.

Also, how much horsepower is the 3000GT making versus a V6 S-10's whopping 190hp?

You also said your truck ran 18s. i believe that more than what i stated as i quickly looked up a time. ill take your word for 18 seconds though as they are underpowered turds. so...why isn't a 16.4 better than an 18 second 1/4 time?

MY truck runs slow because it has a 2.2L I4. The V6 runs those times... and those are probably on an auto transmission, because it's hard to find a 5 speed with the 4.3

Oh, and the time I posted for the 3000GT was for an SL. Not the slowest one.
