Thanks for putting this up. It was a lot of reading though, and hard to get through. I have just one question: How does the ones using the word in the war definition get this? Do they feel that they are the "few" to go out so the rest can be left behind?



I have read many passages in the Quran that refer to killing infedels? How do you rectify that with the inner jihad, or those statements about not killing those who worship in churches. It is sad the killing of those in the masques while they were praying or just coming out...

_jiha:d_ has several meanings, but historically it means war against non-Muslims to convert them by threat or by force to Islam. It is generally contrasted with _da3wa(t)_ "invitation, persuation (to convert)".



Generally the sequence of events is:

1) Muslims (a gang or an army) attack a community of non-Muslims.

2) They admonish them to convert to Islam.

3a) If the aggressed accept to convert their lives are spared. Generally their wordly possessions are stolen.

3b) If the agressed refuse to convert they are massacred, and those spared are sold as slaves.

4) Conversion of a Muslim to another religion is punished by death. Religious freedom doesn't exist in Islam (see the recent case of the Pakistani who became a Christian and was sentenced for life because Western governments pressured Pakistan to spare his life).

Jews and Christians have a special status: that of _ahl adh dhimma(t)_. They pay special taxes to Muslim governments.

Jews and Muslims are banned from the sacred areas of Arabia, and, to a certain extent from the whole peninsula, where they can have no temple, nor worship God in their manner. For instance, when US and European troops were stationed there during the Gulf wars, their chaplains were banned, and soldiers couldn't wear crosses.

Before the advent of colonization, in some Muslim countries, the only status remaining for Christians was that of slaves generally captured on ships and boats and on the beaches (in Sicily, Provence, towns and villages were built on heights as a protection against Muslims, Turks in particular). What is known as Algeria today was notable for it. The rabble was entertained by the torture of Christian slaves at the gate of the city of Algiers called Bab Az Zoon, etc. A few Christian monks were tolerated nearby because they collected money in Europe and were there to pay ransoms for these martyrs, even their bodies.

Jews fared a little better, but were confined in ghettos and often publicly humiliated and insulted. They were forbidden to ride horses. Only donkeys were allowed to them. They also had to wear a special black gown and headgear.

All this does not mean that all the Jews and all the Christians were unhappy in the Muslims countries where they were tolerated or kept as slaves. Everyday life is often different and more complex than salient features.

_jiha:d_ "holy war" is a permanent requirement for Muslims, with peaks during certain periods, like the present time. This is well-known. I'm afraid all the current propaganda to present Islam as a tolerant religion cannot erase historical evidence.

Why don't you tell how Persian Emperor Kisra gave response? Did he sent roses or what?

At the end Muslims defeated them with 30, 000 versus 100, 000.

Why don't you tell us how Turks had been converted to Islam?(interestingly the ethnic group which had been most war oriented among all muslims became muslim just after coming across Muslim travelling salesmen and traders)

How many civil men had been killed in Jerusalem after Crusader's conquest?

How many Christians had been killed after Saladin's conquest 100 years later?(Go and check in the movie "kingdom of heaven" or just look any reliable historical sources)

These were (Byzantium and Persians) the two super powers of the world at that time may be even for hundreds(Byzantium) or thousands of(Persians) years , but muslims most of which were camel feeders, those had been divided into tribes and stuck into interior problems , and desert-men wandering around to seek water became victorous over them just in "40" years.



Do not blame islam cause it was able to defend itself, or became victorous in wars.It's only land muslims had enlarged in after wars, Muslims didn't use sword to convert them.Islam doesn't have to apologize from you cause it became victorous in wars with two sides.And muslims do not need your permission not to be afraid of sacrifising themselves when in a war.

Tell how many unprotected people had been killed by Muslims if you may find...

If you have any proof, show it how muslims converted people under sword.Winning in a war doesn't mean converting them forcibly(it may be same in your life understanding, but not ours).It's clear from Qoran verse that "there's no compulsion in religion".Why don't you answer my old question?

Why don't you consider that Albanians and Bosnians may have brain and they might find truth in islam themselves?

How can Greeks, Armenians, Jews, Ukranians, Syrian Christians, Serbs, Croations, Romanians , Jews and Bulgarians do still pray in their old religion as they did before Ottoman dominance? Ottomans couldn't find time to convert them may be?( considering they had been under Ottoman dominance for 400 years or more)

How do you explain Orthodox Patriarch's being free after Ottoman conquest?

How do you explain Ottoman's embracing Jews when they had been cheek turned by queen Isabel in 1492?

Yes muslims conquered but they also let them believe in their religions and do their prayings, do you know number of Churches that did exist in Turkey, or just Ottoman Izmir( just a city) 100 years ago?It was once counted 65.

Do you know the number of Mosques in modern EU Athens where 100, 000 muslims live today ?

Polygamy was alright because when the first battle finished, many men died and they had wives and kids. That is when polygamy came lawful. It is not forced that you should marry 4 wives. It is only if you can treat them equally.
